Some girls complain that the varnish is chipping. In most cases, this is not due to the varnish quality, but that the nails were poorly prepared, or the varnish was applied incorrectly. If we spend a little more time and learn how to do it properly. You will have the guarantee that your gel polish nails will survive perfect even 3 weeks instead of few days. I think you'll agree it's worth to spend some time and learn how to correctly prepare the nail plate.
Proper, professional preparation of the nail plate, before gel polish application, is half the battle to long lasting nails without any chipping. The other half will be - correct application of the varnish (but that's a topic for another blog). So, let's not waste the time and let's go over all the steps one by one.

The first stage is:
To remove the cuticles around the nail, it is best to use wooden sticks or professional pusher. If you know that you will regularly do hybrid nails, it is worth investing in a professional pusher. It is much more convenient and will shorten the time of nail preparation and gel polish nails removal. Also, gently push the skin around the cuticle.
For this purpose, use a nail file of medium grain, preferably a double-sided file with a 100/180 grit. Our clients mostly choose Semilac Banana nail file or Harbour-Bridge. Make sure to do a smooth moves, so your nail tip won’t be rugged.
After the shortening, it is time for the final shaping of the nails. For this purpose, let's choose a fine-grained product. Use Semilac buffer, remove only a thin layer. You only need to matt & smooth uneven nail plate surface. As a result, the varnish will stick to the nail more firmly.
It is very important to remove EACH TIME all the dust after you file, buff or remove cuticles. Even a small bit of the dust can cause varnish lifting.
When you, shape, buff and clean the nail plate. In most cases, a small part of the cuticles will remain. Flooded cuticles are one of the reasons that the nails chipping! Varnish will stick to the dead skin which will lift after a while. You will enjoy your nails only for a moment. So you'd better remove all the dead skin completely. You can use Semilac Cuticle Remover, it will take you a minute and you will be sure that you remove cuticles completely.
You have to wipe off your nails with cotton pads or lint free pads ( non-cotton ) soaked in nail cleaner to remove all the oily layer and evaporate the water. Water and oily surface can cause nail lifting so make sure to do not touch the nail plate after degreasing.
If you have had problems with chipping off the varnish before. Try Semilac Vitamin primer acid free. In many nail salons, it is a standard procedure for making hybrid nails. Primer will increases the adhesion of the varnish to the nail plate.
