American National Standards Institute (ANSI) conducted research that included following guidelines: emission of uv/led light at a hight of 1cm above the surface of the hand in the lamp during the curing and 20cm from the radiation source at an angle of 0° and 45°. Tests have shown that uv/led nail lamps are completely safe if used correctly – according to the manufacturer’s instructions for use. ANSI have proven that they do not increase the risk of skin cancer. They have also debunked the myth that UV/ LED nail lamps are identical to solar lamps. They proved that UV nail lamps are safer than lamps used in tanning salons, it’s all because the bulbs in UV/LED lamps are completely different, they differ in wavelength. Nail lamps emit much less UV/LED radiation and have a different range than lamps in sunbeds, so they are not the same.
It has been proven that the risk of developing skin cancer from exposure to radiation of UV/LED nail lamps is 11-46 times lower than exposure to the sun for the same amount of time. “it’s highly unlikely that a person who is regularly to a UV or LED nail lamp will achieve this level of exposure”. Considering the fact that the hands of all who use UV/LED lamps for curing are exposed to radiation every 2-3 weeks for 6-10 minutes in intermittent series. It can be concluded that exposing the hands to exposure of natural radiation when driving a car in a sunny day.
Research clearly shows that the amount of UV radiation coming from the manicure lamp is too small to cause any harm. It’s obvious that UV/LED nail lamps are not used by one and the same person every day. The risk of developing skin cancer is much higher if you excess a lot on sun exposure or if you use sunbeds. It is practically impossible to exceed the safe lavel of radiation for a UV/LED lamps.
In research done by Rapid Precision Testing Laboratories in USA, scientists have proved that it’s practically impossible to exceed the allowable daily dose of radiation when using UV/LED nail lamps. Also we don’t use these nail lamps every day! According to the research putting our hands into the lamp for curing time is like exposing ourselves to not very heavy sun for 10-20 minutes. Let’s not go crazy – we spend much longer in the sun at summertime.
